Do Not Track

Do Not Track: What It Is and How to Use It

What is Do Not Track?

Do Not Track (DNT) is a privacy preference that allows internet users to opt-out of being tracked by websites. When you enable DNT in your browser, it sends a request to websites not to collect or track your browsing activity.

How to Enable Do Not Track

To enable DNT in your browser, follow these steps:

  1. For Chrome: Go to Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Tracking. Turn on the "Send a 'Do Not Track' request with your browsing traffic" option.
  2. For Firefox: Go to Menu > Options > Privacy & Security. Under "Enhanced Tracking Protection," select "Strict."
  3. For Edge: Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Tracking prevention. Turn on the "Send 'Do Not Track' requests" option.

Is Do Not Track Effective?

While DNT is a good privacy feature to use, it's important to note that not all websites respect DNT requests. Some websites may still collect and track your browsing activity even if DNT is enabled. Additionally, DNT only works in browsers that support it. If you're using a browser that doesn't support DNT, your browsing activity may still be tracked.
